James Bond 007 First Light PS5 controller pre-orders live now — the best links and info
Gooooold
007 First Light Limited Edition PS5 controller pre-orders are live now, and we're here to help you find where to buy this latest DualSense release.
1. US pre-order quick links
2. UK pre-order quick links
3. Live updates
After a bit of a break since the last limited edition DualSense, which was the Marathon edition, this latest one continues the relatively steady stream of original designs we've had for the PS5 controller.
Now, while it's a fun gold-sheen design, part of me wishes it were more unique, and, well, a bit more 'Bond', but here l we are. That aside, I still think it'll be popular and, as a result, genuinely limited in its availability.
007 First Light is on track to be one of the biggest games of the year, no doubt, and the first James Bond title in ages, so I reckon there'll be plenty of folks keen to add this DualSense to their collection.
I've built this page with all the best bits of info and the key links to check for a pre-order. With the help of my colleague Dash, we'll be bringing you up to date live coverage of the pre-orders throughout the day.
Why should you keep it here with us? I've been covering hardware launches like limited edition varieties and new releases for nearly a decade now, from graphics card shortages, to PS5 stock, and PS5 30th Anniversary restocks, so I know how to get you to the right places, quickly, in order to bag your desired product as effortlessly and efficiently as possible.

Should you pre-order a James Bond 007 First Light Limited Edition PS5 controller?
I'm often asked whether a pre-order on anything, hardware or game, is something worth locking in at the first opportunity. When it comes to limited edition hardware, though, my advice is always to lock your unit down. If something really is limited edition, then rolling the dice and hoping for stock weeks after launch day is a recipe for disappointment.
If you can pre-order at a retailer that offers free cancellation too - like PlayStation Direct - then that means you'll at least have some time to reconsider your order between pre-order date and release date.
The extra factor here is the James Bond factor. It's one of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and as such, I suspect there's going to be a lot of fans wanting to add any game-adjacent accessories and merch to their collections.
In a way, I hope I'm wrong, and everyone can bag the product who wants it, but I've seen limited edition DualSenses sell out in minutes before.

I've been covering games and gaming hardware for nearly a decade now, and that includes covering almost every single PS5 hardware launch and limited edition release this generation. As a result, I know how these things work, what your best plays are, and where the best links will be. I'm also somewhat of a PlayStation 5 hardware collector and am deeply invested in every limited edition release like this, and so approach it from a fan's perspective too.

As TechRadar’s Gaming Editor, I always stay on top of the latest game and hardware releases. Whether I'm covering the latest product launch live or dispensing advice on how to navigate PS5 price increases, I have years of experience working to help you make the right purchases.

As TechRadar's senior deals editor, I've covered major sales events such as Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day for almost a decade, and I was there during the rush to find PS5 stock back in the day. So, I've got all the practise I need to find stock of a new Dualsense controller at various US and UK retailers.
LIVE: Latest Updates
It's nearing the end of the day here in the UK, so I'm preparing to log off. But, before I leave, I've got one last stock update for you.
In the US the situation is pretty straightforward. Every major retailer from PS Direct to Amazon, Walmart, and GameStop all have the James Bond 007 First Light PS5 controller up for grabs. Stock seems plentiful too, which is a good sign.
In the UK, things are a little weirder. Pre-orders are live at PS Direct, Very, Currys, and more - but we've still not seen any pre-order activity over at Amazon or Argos. This is definitely a little weird and means we'll presumably see them go live at some point over the weekend.
ShopTo arrives on the pre-order scene
More UK news here! ShopTo has finally got in on the action, with the pad up for pre-order now.
- ShopTo: pre-order for £79.85
Smyths Toys also live in the UK
If you're looking for another retailer in the UK, Smyths Toys should be on your radar. The toy giant has the limited edition DualSense up for grabs right now, with click & collect available for launch day too.
- Smyths Toys: pre-order for £74.99
Every major US retailer has joined in!
It's going wild over in the US, where every major retailer has now got in on the pre-order action.
You can find the best links to each below.
- Amazon: pre-order for $84.99
- Walmart: pre-order for $84.88
- Best Buy: pre-order for $84.99
- Target: pre-order for $84.99
- GameStop: pre-order for $84.99
PS Direct is live in the US!
US shoppers are in for a treat, as PS Direct now has the 007 First Light DualSense up for pre-order!
That's right, it's available right now - which is just slightly of the expected 10AM ET time.
- PS Direct: pre-order for $84
Don't be tempted by eBay prices...
It wouldn't be a limited edition DualSense drop without dodgy sellers on online marketplaces like eBay traying to make a quick buck. Right now I'm seeing listing for the 007 First Light pad priced more than £100!
With plenty of stock at most only retailers, it almost goes without saying but you certainly shouldn't spend that to get one.
The Game Collection is back!
Big news! After that little wobble earlier, it looks like stock is back over at The Game Collection. It's currently the cheapest place to pre-order in the UK, with a whopping £0.04 saving compared to RRP.
It's not much, but you surely know the saying: "Take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves!"
- The Game Collection: pre-order for £74.95
It looks like activity has slowed down once again. Stock is still holding at every retailer that's posted listings so far, with the exception of The Game Collection.
Hey everyone! Dash again, returning to take the reigns so that James can grab some lunch himself.
As he said, we've just seen our very first instance of this limited edition DualSense selling out. It looks like Rob's prediction that this controller will be popular was on the money.
If you're a massive 007 fan, then I would consider locking down some stock fairly quickly just in case.
We have our first sold out listing in the UK. The Game Collection is no longer taking preorders for the 007 Dualsense. I'm not surprised it was the first to go, given it's a smaller specialist store compared to all the big guns.
Don't fret, though, you can still buy the controller from PS Direct, Currys and Very right now
Hello! James Pickard here, taking over the mission to find the James Bond Dualsense while Dash takes quick break. I'll have another quick scout around retailers to see what the current stock situation is like and whether any new preorders have popped up.
A little more on the 007 First Light theme that released earlier.
Written by Lana Del Rey, it marks the return of David Arnold, the renowned Bond franchise composer with credits for multiple movie scores, including Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, and Quantum of Solace.
"This song joins a long line of genre defining songs, each one creating a benchmark of style that adds to the magnificent heritage that is 'The Bond Song'," he said in a press release.
Game has also just got in on the pre-order action, with the limited edition DualSense up for £74.99!
- Game: pre-order for £74.99
While we wait for more retailers to join the fray, here's a quick reminder that this limited edition DualSense is set to launch on May 27, the same date the game drops on PS5!
Most retailers are offering release day delivery in the UK too, so you can use the DualSense to dive in right away.
Still no movement from Amazon, which is a little odd. Fingers crossed a listing for the controller will drop there any minute now...
The current stock situation
Stock seems to be holding so far in the UK. Currys, Very, The Game Collection, and of course PS Direct are all offering the pad right now.
Check them out below.
- PS Direct: pre-order for £74.99
- Very: pre-order for £74.99
- Currys: pre-order for £74.99
- The Game Collection: pre-order for £74.95
After that flurry of activity, things have quieted down for now. Big hitters like Amazon have yet to go live in the UK, though shoppers still have plenty of options with Currys, Very, and PS Direct.
Our first US pre-order just dropped!
Okay, this is unexpected. For some reason Target has gone live early! This is the first US pre-order we've seen and hours ahead of when we originally expected.
If you're particularly keen to get in there early, you can visit the listing below.
- Target: pre-order for $84.99
TheGameCollection just went live too. It's up for £74.95, which is £0.04 less than most other retailers!
- The Game Collection: pre-order for £74.95
Two more UK retailers join in
Two more retailers have just gone live with the official PS Direct store and Very.
In both instances you can pick up the controller at its retail price, £74.99.
- PS Direct: pre-order for £74.99
- Very: pre-order for £74.99
Just 15 minutes to go until the limited edition controller pre-orders begin in earnest.
If you're just tuning in to my coverage, do note that Currys has already gone live and has a listing up right now!
No other retailers seem to have gone live yet, but now that the flood gates have opened we might see a few more listings ahead of the official 10AM start time.
Currys is the first to go live in the UK
In the UK, Currys has kicked things off about 50 minutes early with the first pre-orders to go live.
You can pick up the controller for its RRP of £74.99, with free release day delivery thrown in!
- Currys: pre-order for £74.99
You can pick up the game too
If you're also interested in picking up the game to go with your controller purchase, I'd recommend going for the Amazon Exclusive Special Edition for some bonus digital goodies.
Those who pre-order also get an exclusive outfit - the Classic Tuxedo - and all of the Deluxe Edition content for free!
The PS5 and Xbox versions are expected to ship on May 27, though do note that the Nintendo Switch 2 port has been delayed.
This Specialist Edition of the PS5 game packs a wealth of bonus digital content. Those who pre-order get a free Deluxe Edition upgrade too.
Pre-order the Specialist Edition on Xbox for digital bonuses and a free Deluxe Edition upgrade.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light has been delayed indefinitely, though you can still pre-order it today.
Here's a bit of 007 First Light news to keep you in the Bond mood.
Like the films, the game will have its own title song and IO Interactive just released it so you can listen early.
It's called 'First Light' (not the most imaginative thing to call it, I have to say) and is the result of a collaboration between singer Lana Del Rey and composer David Arnold.
But what about the game itself?
Developed by Hitman studio IO Interactive, 007 First Light is shaping up to be an explosive Bond prequel with action to rival the high-intensity excellence of the films.
It's not a an adaptation of an existing movie, but rather an all-new story based on the original character by author Ian Fleming.
This spy hero is portrayed by Irish actor Patrick Gibson, who you might recognize from TV series Dexter: Original Sin.
So when exactly are we waiting for?
Sony has confirmed that listings should go up at "10AM local time" in all applicable regions.
US pre-orders are a while away still, but those in the UK only have around two hours to go.
Nothing yet, though that's not too surprising as we don't often see limited edition DualSense listings going up early. Still, I have all the relevant pages open and will be refreshing them periodically just in case.
Right now it's a bit of a waiting game!
If you're in the UK and just tuning in for today's deluge of pre-orders, welcome!
It's Dash here to take things over and guide you through the day as release nears.
I'm going to start by having a quick look around to see if any retailers have started listing them a little early...
That's the key information you need ahead of tomorrow's pre-orders kicking off!
We'll be on hand tomorrow guiding you through moment to moment before, during, and after pre-orders begin, and hope that we can help you bag your controller!
Where will it be?
The wording on the PS Blog post that announced the 007 First Light limited edition DualSense seems to indicate that the controller may well be only available at PlayStation Direct...
I say 'seems' because it doesn't mention the word 'exclusive' — but equally it doesn't use that eternal retail phrase, 'as well as participating retailers'. As a result, the links on this page extend to other non-PlayStation retailers, but it looks likely that PS Direct may be your best and only bet...
Will it be popular?
This is an interesting question really. One one hand I've seen a fair few limited edition DualSense controllers sell out in minutes; but on the other hand, I've seen supposed limited edition pads have seemingly enormous stock levels that never flicker or fluctuate, and remain available days and weeks after pre-orders open.
However, due to the former alone, you can never rely on the latter being the case henceforth. And with this being tied to an iconic entertainment franchise that's one of the biggest in the world in James Bond, and one of the most anticipated video games of the year, I'm inclined to think this one will be popular.
That's why we've played it safe and are getting our flag in the ground early so that we can be in the best position possible tomorrow to help folks when pre-orders start at 10am BST in the UK, and 10am ET in the US.
Every penny of it - how much does it cost?
Following the well-trodden path of limited edition DualSense controllers that came before it, the James Bond 007 First Light PS5 controller costs a similar amount in the US and UK: $84.99 / £74.99.
It's what we've come to expect from such limited edition DualSense releases, and at least it isn't the subject or has been affected by the recent PS5 console price hikes...
The design: I love goooooooold
The 007 First Light Limited Edition PS5 controller is very gold - so gold that I cannot think of anything else but a particularly character from the James Bond spoof films, the Austin Powers series.
It sports a barrel-esque design on it too which you can get a feel for if you focus on the vanishing point of it in the circle on the touchpad, but otherwise is very much a 'Man with the Golden DualSense' kind of design.
What do you think?
Hello!
Hello and welcome to our early live build-up to the 007 First Light limited edition PS5 controller pre-orders that start tomorrow.
We think this is going to be another in-demand DualSense despite the mixed reaction to its design, and its position alongside one of the most anticipated games of the year is sure to make it a high-profile PS5 accessory.
We'll have all the pertinent information and early links on this page to put you in the best position to nab your pre-order tomorrow.
